fanzhen0019's real to me map is absolutely amazing when it comes to song expression btw

part of the reason most high diffs uninterest me is because the mapper prioritizes using certain structures over choosing structures that follow the song

sure it's rankable but you could give your map more personality for the song you're mapping


btw I am also uninterested in low diffs that do the same thing not just high diffs

when it comes to the ranking process however, "top diff is the only diff that matters"

BNs are more flexible for a mapper's low diffs because traditionally the top diff can be seen as "their prized work"

some mappers however do put in effort towards their low diffs similar to their high diffs (another sonnyc praise here)

song expression aside this normal diff ignores pretty much every mapping technique you could use in order to map it faster I guess

the mapper knows how to use more creative ideas but it's possible that they don't understand the amount of freedom low diffs provide

playable for sure, but not something I'd look to for inspiration or anything

even though from a player pov the 1st one is probably easier to full mod, the 2nd one involves more mapping techniques

a long time ago when low diffs were taken more seriously you'd end up with unique maps like https://osu.ppy.sh/beatmapsets/46574#osu/144935

would never see something like this in most new low diffs (gotta spam 1/2 stacks for rhythm instead)

back then modders actually cared about improving maps as well (offering suggestions like slider art etc)
